About tictoctimer

There is nothing to sign up for at TicTocTimer. It is a countdown timer, it does one thing — counts down to any event in days, hours, minutes and seconds, with a fullscreen mode, a shareable link and presets for occasions like New Year and Christmas — and it gives you the answer without first asking who you are.

Why we built this

Most everyday-utility tools online spend more screen space on advertising and consent banners than on the calculation. TicTocTimer takes the other approach — the tool does one thing, counts down to any event in days, hours, minutes and seconds, with a fullscreen mode, a shareable link and presets for occasions like New Year and Christmas, and the page stays out of the way while it does. A narrow scope is easier to keep correct, too.

The method behind it

There is no server in the loop at all. It computes the difference between the target instant and the current time on each tick, using the device clock, so the countdown stays accurate across time zones and daylight-saving changes, and that description is the real algorithm rather than a simplification of it, so you can repeat the sum by hand and compare the two.

Your data stays here

The event date you set never leaves your browser. There is no backend that receives it, no database that stores it, and no advertiser that sees it — so you can load the page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool keeps working.

Who it is for

Keeping it free

TicTocTimer is free to use and supported by advertising. Adverts are kept off the working part of the page, and no advertiser receives anything you type. If a page ever becomes slow or intrusive, that is a bug worth reporting.
